all designed to challenge traditional in-ear monitor designs to bring you a truly unique listening experience.
Tubeless Transparency
Our industry-first, tubeless technology eliminates sound-altering dampers and tubes. This reduced resonance reveals a new level of resolution and transparency.
Tubeless Transparency
Tia is a patented in-ear monitor design approach developed to reduce the negative acoustic effects commonly found in traditional earphone construction. The complete tia system consists of three core elements: direct-radiating balanced armature drivers, a single-bore canal design, and precision-engineered micro-acoustic tuning chambers. When combined, these innovations produce beautifully realistic imaging and a smooth, extended high-frequency response. While every 64 Audio custom and universal IEM includes at least one of these elements, our Trió and Fourté models are built with the full three-part tia system.
The tia driver is a direct-radiating balanced armature micro-speaker that redefines resolution and transparency. By opening the balanced armature, the diaphragm is left unobstructed, allowing the full acoustic potential of the driver to shine through. This design minimizes unwanted resonances and vibrations inherent in traditional closed-armature setups. With this open architecture, conventional sound tubes and dampers are no longer necessary.
The single-bore canal design marks a significant advancement in eliminating tube resonance and high-frequency inconsistencies. The large bore acts as both a sound-shaping chamber and the housing for the tia high-frequency driver. This arrangement delivers a more linear and coherent frequency response. Thanks to the ultra-short sound path, the tia driver achieves exceptional high-frequency extension, smoothness, and consistency. Additionally, the large single bore helps reduce tip clogging and sound obstruction.
The micro-acoustic chambers, featured in our universal-fit monitors like Trió and Fourté, are essential to the tia system. These precisely tuned internal structures give each driver its own controlled acoustic space, optimizing performance without introducing unwanted resonances. Much like tuning a speaker to a studio control room, each driver is matched to its chamber, enabling a rich, three-dimensional soundstage that sets our IEMs apart.
FATIGUE-FREE LISTENING
This pneumatically interactive vent relieves air pressure in a sealed ear canal, alleviating listener fatigue and opening the soundstage.
FATIGUE-FREE LISTENING
Apex is our patented air pressure exchange system, engineered to enhance the fit, comfort, and performance of occluded ear devices such as in-ear monitors and earplugs. Traditional sealed IEMs increase pneumatic pressure in the ear canal, which can lead to listening fatigue and a less natural sonic experience.
Apex solves this by introducing a precisely tuned vent equipped with a pressure-regulating material—typically a proprietary open-cell foam. This material controls how air moves through the vent, relieving pressure without compromising isolation.
The result is a more open and spacious soundstage, improved comfort, and a lifelike listening experience that remains fatigue-free—even during long sessions. Depending on the model, Apex is implemented either as an interchangeable module or integrated directly into the IEM shell.
When a miniature speaker is sealed in the ear canal, air becomes trapped. As the speaker produces sound, it moves that air and causes the eardrum to work harder than it naturally should. The pressure exerted on the eardrum during insertion, wearing, and removal causes ear fatigue, also known as listener fatigue.
Apex allows air to move more freely within the ear canal, which helps extend the perceived soundstage and creates a more natural listening experience. The less occluded your ear is—depending on the module you choose—the more it opens up the stereo image, similar to open-back headphones. But unlike open-back designs, the controlled leak provided by Apex maintains bass response, giving you realism and impact. That means musicians can follow their mixes more accurately and deliver better performances.
Most of our custom and universal IEMs are designed around interchangeable Apex™ modules, allowing users to customize their noise isolation level. You can go from a completely open feeling IEM experience to fully occluded levels of quiet. While especially useful for live performers, Apex modules also serve as ideal attenuation filters in our custom earplugs, offering a flexible listening or hearing protection solution for any environment.
Each module is positioned to prevent debris build-up and significantly minimize wind noise. Its compact design is built for the most demanding users, and the internal design of the module is mindfully made to be durable and virtually maintenance-free.
HANDCRAFTED COMFORT
A new way of manufacturing custom in-ear monitors preserves the details of your ear impressions for the most comfortable-fitting IEMs possible.
HANDCRAFTED COMFORT
3D-Fit technology combines digital scanning, rendering and 3D-printing to retain ear impression detail. Integrating acoustical tuning features that are impossible to construct using traditional subtractive manufacturing processes enables a high-degree of tuneability and the capability of fitting up to 18 drivers, per-ear, without dramatically increasing IEM height.
Compared to wax-dip molding, this process reduces distortion and maximizes internal space for precise and comfortable in-ear devices. All of our Custom In-Ear Monitors and Earplugs are crafted using this advanced technique.
A great fitting pair of custom in-ear monitors begins with a quality set of ear impressions. Each impression is digitally scanned and refined by our technicians to preserve each detail for a perfect fit. Once scanned, your impressions are kept on-file digitally and can be used for future orders without needing another trip to the audiologist until your ears grow significantly enough.
Our shells are printed by state-of-the-art 3D-printers using a hypoallergenic acrylic. The colors and materials we use have been specifically chosen for longevity and durability. This process also allows the digital renderings to maintain their detail for optimal comfort.
Once the shells are printed, our production team refines, smoothes, and assembles the remaining components by hand. This process ensures each Custom In-Ear Monitor is a unique piece of tailor-made art for each customer.
CONSISTENT SOUND
Enjoy a steadfast sound at any venue. From studio to stage, this proprietary circuit ensures your IEM's sound signature stays the same no matter what it's plugged into.
CONSISTENT SOUND
LID is a proprietary circuit that corrects the non-linear electrical impedance of in-ear monitors. This enables the electrical current from headphone amplifiers to be distributed evenly amongst the multiple groups of drivers that make-up our IEMs, preserving their intended frequency response.
As a response to our customers’ needs, especially those who plug their IEMs into a variety of sources, we concluded that earphones having a flat or linear electrical impedance characteristic will have more consistent audio performance when driven by different sources.
Smartphones, laptops, wireless body packs, digital audio players, etc. are all equipped with headphone amplifiers to drive the micro-speakers in devices like in-ear monitors. The electrical impedance of the signal chain, whether of the headphone amp or even the IEM cable, has a direct audible effect on the performance of your IEMs; most obviously heard as a change in sensitivity. If your IEM has a non-linear impedance curve you’ll also notice a change in frequency response as you increase or decrease the electrical impedance of your signal chain.
