fatigue-free listening
Apex, or Air Pressure Exchange, is a pneumatically interactive vent that releases air pressure in a sealed ear canal. This venting alleviates listener fatigue and opens the soundstage. Apex comes in two variations, m15 and m20. All of our current IEMs feature apex technology, although our tia Trió™ and Fourté™ models contain an internal apex module to preserve the tia™ acoustic chambers.

When you seal a miniature speaker in an ear canal, the air inside becomes trapped. As the speaker produces sound, it moves the air and causes the eardrum to work excessively. The pressure exerted on the eardrum causes ear fatigue, also known as listener fatigue. Apex relieves this pressure, allowing the eardrum to move naturally, so you can comfortably listen longer.
Extend the Soundstage
Apex enables air to move freely in the ear canal, which extends the soundstage and allows for a more natural listening experience. A more open soundstage also preserves the bass frequencies and helps the listener distinguish individual instruments. Ultimately, artists are better able to follow their mixes and execute the best performance possible.
Choose Your Isolation
There are two levels of isolation provided by apex, -20dB (m20) and -15dB (m15). The m15 allows for slightly more ambient sound than the m20, and helps temper the bass. Each of our in-ear monitors is built with a specific apex module in mind, however, our standard external apex modules are designed to be replaceable, so you can rotate between levels of isolation and sound flavors.
Designed to Last
Each module is positioned to prevent debris build-up and significantly minimize wind noise. Its compact design is built for the most demanding users, and the internal design of the module is mindfully made to be durable and virtually maintenance-free.
